Found me, finding you
Only two thirds of the Dream Team this time but we still had a fun shoot with a new model: Melisa! MUA Kanya had a cool theme she wanted to work out, so we did!
Issa fresh face! First time working with model Melisa, who was someone I had been wanting to work with for a long time now.
The Make-up Artist
A crucial member of the Dream Team is of course our mua Kanya! She had a couple of moodboards she wanted to work out, one of which was a modern cowgirl theme. That’s the one we did for this shoot. She created 3 makeup looks, but she also did the hair as well as the styling. We had collaborated with a local fashion boutique to use some of their outfits that would fit the theme of the shoot.
A new fashion boutique worked with us on this shoot. Located in the city centre of Genk, US Clothing, is new fashion store. Kanya had contacted the owner and picked out two dresses, the orange flower dress and the Milly dress, for us to use during our shoot and I went to pick them up.
The location we went to is one I’ve been to many times before. The Terril Waterschei was ideal for our modern cowgirl theme.
Kanya had made up the model before they arrived at the location. For the first look Kanya added a hat and I took some simple portraits. For the second look we got more into the modern cowgirl theme. She added some more accessories and the model wore the first dress from US Clothing, the orange floral dress. I took more portraits but also moved around the location a bit more to take some full body and action shots. Switching to the last look, we also stepped into direct sunlight, which isn’t the easiest light, but I made it work. This was also when we met a couple of horseback riders passing by. Since this was a modern cowgirl theme, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to possibly shoot with a horse as well! We kindly asked the them if we could take some photos with one of their horses, and they happily obliged. I’ve never shot with a horse, or any animal for that matter, before so this was an amazing experience. It was a pity Esse, the videographer of the Dream Team, wasn’t able to join us on this shoot, because the video would have been incredible. The owner of the horse was also very generous to offer his contact info in case we ever wanted to shoot with his horse again. We'll definitely do that!
